My name’s Ross Palmer. I’m a freelance musician and recording engineer based in south-east London. I write and perform songs under my own name and as part of a duo with Melanie Crew, and I also play guitar with James McKean and the Blueberry Moon. In the past, I’ve played bass, drums and/or guitars with Yo Zushi, Sumner, Carterhaugh and the Fourth Wall, and have recorded and/or mixed all of the above as well as Black Droid, Sasha Ilyukevich and Brooking & Martin, to name a few.
This blog is a place for me to kick around ideas about music, songwriting, production and sound recording, or occasionally some other stuff: books, movies, TV, politics or sport. I’m a survivor of a serious heart disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, so I sometimes write about that, too.
Mainly, though, I’ll be writing about songs, and you’ll probably find I keep coming back to the first half or the seventies and the first half of the nineties.
