About

My name’s Ross Palmer. I’m a freelance musician, recording engineer and copy-editor based in south-east London. I write and perform songs under my own name, and play bass, drums and/or guitars with Yo Zushi and James McKean. I’ve played with and/or recorded many other artists in many styles of music: Sumner, Carterhaugh, Melanie Crew, Black Droid, Sasha Ilyukevich and Brooking & Martin, to name a few.

This blog is a place for me to kick around ideas about music, songwriting, production, sound recording, and occasionally some other stuff too: books, movies, TV, politics or sport. Mainly, though, I’ll be writing about songs, and you’ll probably find I keep coming back to the first half or the seventies and the first half of the nineties.

Here’s some of my recent work on Soundcloud. Click on my name in the top-left corner or the word soundcloud in the top-right corner to go to the site and hear more songs.
